We are so blessed to have Sandy Richter as our new Minister of Emerging Generations, effective June 1, 2011.
What follows is her word of greeting that will appear in The Chimes, our monthly newsletter, for June.
"Born into a pastor's family, I had the privilege of never knowing a time without knowing about God and from a very early age I had a keen sense of the reality of God's presence in my life.
"Throughout the various ups and downs of life, the redeeming love and transforming grace of God have compelled me to trust and hope even in the darkest times.
"By the time I was a sophomore in high school, I knew I wanted to spend my life sharing this goodness of God with others. I even transferred to Wheaton College from my home state school in Oregon to more intentionally pursue ministry.
"After college, I served as a full-time youth minister for four years. Then I took some time off, went to seminary, got married and had two little girls.
"The desire to "do" ministry never left, which is why I am so excited to be able to serve with you as the newest Minister of Emerging Generations.
"My family and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of your obviously loving community. You have already welcomed us unawares in the couple of times we visited.
"Ian, my husband, Kiah (2 1/2) and Elle (14 months) and I, cannot wait to see what God has for all of us in this new season."
